Compulsory Insurance Coverage for Migrant Workers
Coverage for Agency-hired OFWs
The Cover
POEA Memorandum Circular No. 09 (21 Oct 2010) The amended Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act stipulates that all agency-hired overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), whether landbased or seabased, should be covered by a compulsory insurance coverage issued by an insurance provider duly licensed and certified by the Insurance Commission. The insurance essentially provides a host of different types of protection, including life, non-life, and emergency-related benefits for OFWs.
